The attack happened after a fan jumped onto the stage during the middle of the band's performance of "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" at the Virgin Festival september 7 Sunday night and shoved guitarist Noel Gallagher from behind.

"He was examined in a local hospital after the band's performance and has been advised to rest," the statement on oasisnet.com said. "Unfortunately, despite resting up yesterday, the extent of his injuries mean he will not be able to perform tonight."
